The dollar continued to ascend, extending gains versus the yen, the euro and other European currencies, and recouping some of the recent losses against commodity currencies. The risk backdrop remained 'on', with the MSCI Asia Pacific equity index posting its seventh straight session of gains, and while oil prices are moderately lower today, this follows recent strong rises to four-month peaks. USD-JPY made a one-week high at 109.54, and EUR-USD fell to a 16-day low at 1.1253.
