Thinly traded year end markets saw the dollar trade in a mixed and unpredictable manner in N.Y. on Thursday. Softer than expected Chicago PMI data weighed on the greenback for a time, resulting in USD-JPY falling to two-month lows of 120.00 before recovering. EUR-USD topped out at 1.0901 before settling into the 1.0960 region. Cable meanwhile, logged fresh eight-month lows of 1.4733, while USD-CAD chopped around inside of 1.3903 and 1.3825.
