Timehop throws some April Fools' shade at Facebook
Timehop isn't afraid of calling Facebook out on their, let's say, "Timehop-inspired" new feature called "On This Day."
Timehop is an app that allows users to look back on their embarrassing tweets, statuses and pictures from years past. For their required branded April Fools' Day prank, they announced the arrival of a new app called "Timebook," essentially calling Facebook out on stealing their idea by pretending to steal Facebook's idea

Opera based on events of 9/11 being staged in London
LONDON — The tragic events of 9/11 will be revisited in a new opera opening this month in London.
Between Worlds by English composer Tansy Davies tells the story of six people trapped high up in the World Trade Center.
The opera, which is produced by English National Opera at the Barbican, focuses on the relationships and emotions of six people as they face the possibility that they might never see their loved ones again. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the coordinated terrorist attacks in New York and Washington
The six unnamed people featured in the opera are a Shaman, Mother, Younger Woman, Realtor, Janitor, and Older Man, who are played by a mostly British cast. Read more...

Really lucky or really greedy? British couple wins lottery twice in 2 years
LONDON — Meet David and Kathleen Long from Scunthorpe.
In 2013, the couple won £1 million ($1.5 million) in the EuroMillions lottery. Then, on Friday, they won another £1 million ($1.5 million) in another EuroMillions lottery
They became the first people to scoop a million-pound prize twice and go public with it, beating odds of 283 billion to one, according to reports.
The double win begs a few questions. Wasn't megabucks jackpot enough? More importantly, though, was it somehow orchestrated?

Reports: Cellphone video recovered from Germanwings crash site shows plane's final moments
A passenger or crewmember on board the doomed Germanwings Flight 9525 reportedly recorded a cellphone video in the final seconds before the crash. German and French media are reporting that investigators found the footage, which was unscathed, at the crash site.
German newspaper Bild and French magazine Paris Match describe the video as "chaotic." It's blurry and doesn't show any of the passengers' faces, according to the German paper. However, the audio is reportedly quite clear

The scene was so chaotic that it was hard to identify people, but the sounds of the screaming passengers made it perfectly clear that they were aware of what was about to happen to them. One can hear cries of “My God” in several languages. Metallic banging can also be heard more than three times, perhaps of the pilot trying to open the cockpit door with a heavy object. Silicon Valley workers thank Ellen Pao with full-page newspaper ad
In the wake of Ellen Pao's losing verdict in her high-stakes gender bias trial, a group of tech workers pooled together money to place a full-page ad in a Palo Alto newspaper with a simple message: "Thanks Ellen."
The ad, which appeared in Tuesday's edition of the Palo Alto Daily Post, features a minimalist design with a stark black page and the two words in small white font in the center, as USA Today first reported. Read more...
